Department of Forestry and Jacksonville Fire Fighters faught this rapidly spreading brush fire along San Pablo Road and Cross Water Boulevard. The fire, which initially started in the early morning hours was faught and thought to be completely doused around 8am in the morning. However, fire crews were called back to
the scene around 11am with a report of a flare up. Engine and brush 50 arrived on scene and requested the D.O.F. and additional fire units, in an attempt to stop the re-kindled quick moving fire from getting out of control. Fire crews faught the blaze for about four hours until it was extinguished for a second time. Prior
to its extinguishment large flames had spread over a 10 to 15 acre area. No homes were threatened, and no evacuations were ordered, the cause of the fire is under investigation. Assisting fire crews: Fire 3, Engine 50, 28, Brush 50, 42, Tanker 28, PIO, Assistant Chief White, and D.O.F.
